Enbala released a new version of its distributed energy resource optimization and control platform today at DistribuTECH 2019 in New Orleans, LA. The new version of the platform, called Enbala Concerto™, includes new features and product enhancements to the company’s previous generation Symphony by Enbala™ platform.
Enbala Concerto underpins the company’s Distributed Energy Resource Management System (DERMS) and Virtual Power Plant (VPP) solutions. Enbala’s VPP was named by Navigant Research as the world’s leading VPP software in its most recent VPP Leaderboard, and the company’s DERMS software was chosen by Navigant Research in January of this year as one of the top two leading providers of DERMS for distributed energy resources (DER) and grid management.
The new Concerto platform encompasses:
- On-going scalability advancements within the Enbala Engine supporting data volumes associated with mass residential demand response (DR) programs and the telemetry speeds of modern, fast-acting distributed energy resources.
- Additional asset models for electric water heaters, including a dynamic storage learning model to improve the accuracy of control and maximize customer satisfaction – “no cold showers” – during demand response events.
- A new integration framework to speed the integration with 3rdparty ecosystem partners.
- New integrations with water heater switch vendors, thus continuing the expansion the ecosystem of Enbala-supported DER vendors.

Concerto is currently being deployed at Australia’s AGL Energy for a VPP project to orchestrate a diverse range of residential, behind-the-meter battery solar+storage systems supporting DR, frequency regulation, energy control, voltage response and voltage management. It is also deployed and operational for one of the largest multi-family water heater DR programs in North America.
