Concerto platform helps utilities and energy retailers achieve seamless integration of a broader range of distributed energy resources

Enbala today announced the addition of several new companies to its partner ecosystem, expanding grid edge control and orchestration of numerous additional distributed energy assets.  The Enbala Concerto™ distributed energy orchestration and control platform now supports enhanced integration of electric vehicle charging, solar+storage, smart thermostats, water heater storage and other smart devices capable of offering grid flexibility services.

Enhanced Integration of EV Charging

AddEnergie® has joined the ecosystem as a new electric vehicle supply equipment (EVSE) provider and is integrating its FLO® EV charging infrastructure with Concerto. Leveraging Concerto’s communication and control capabilities to integrate EV charging into the electricity system can help utilities manage when and where customers charge their EVs. It also provides a wide range of valuable grid services, from demand response and voltage regulation to distribution-level services. Not only does this diminish the peak demand impacts of electric vehicle load—accommodating EV loads at the lowest possible cost—but it can do so without impacting the customer’s driving experience.

Better Leverage of Solar+Storage

Tesla PowerWall and SolarEdge have also been integrated with the Concerto platform, giving utilities new abilities to leverage smart inverters, batteries and solar for grid services like voltage and reactive power supply, as well as dynamic capacity.

Increased support of solar+storage also provides real-time visibility into grid edge conditions, along with end-to-end monitoring, control and dispatch of distributed energy resources (DERs) to reduce peak load and improve grid reliability, while also meeting customer demand for backup power.

Smart Thermostat Integration Supports Better DR

Platform integration of smart thermostats from ecobee and Pelican Wireless Systems further extends Concerto support for utility residential and small-to-medium business customer demand response programs. This enhanced control allows utilities to monitor and dispatch a larger number of behind-the-meter assets in an aggregated and coordinated fashion that meets the power system’s growing need for flexible load and peak load mitigation.

Residential and Multi-Dwelling Unit Water Heater Controls

Native and retrofit integration with electric-resistance water heater storage provides utilities with scale volumes of existing grid edge resources across their service territory, delivering megawatts of dispatchable capacity.  Concerto integrations with Aquanta and Apricity water heater controllers are delivering scale production capacity in active DR programs.
