Enbala Receives Frost & Sullivan 2017 North American Distributed Energy Management New Product Innovation Award

Global research and consulting organization honors company’s DER solutions

DENVER JANUARY 22, 2018
Enbala announces that it has received the Frost & Sullivan 2017 North American Distributed Energy Management New Product Innovation Award. The award honors Enbala’s distributed energy resource optimization and control platform, the Enbala Engine. This platform underpins the company’s Distributed Energy Resource Management System (DERMS) and Virtual Power Plant (VPPs) solutions. Used for energy balancing grid services such as ancillary services, renewable energy firming, fast demand response and other leading-edge applications, the Enbala Engine is being deployed for customers across North America and Europe for a cumulative capability of over 400MWs.

“With DERs emerging as an important energy generation option, an effective DER management platform is an essential tool for utilities to control the power flow in the grid,” said the Frost & Sullivan award document. “In response to this need, Enbala introduced the Enbala Engine, a platform that is not just a data collection tool for clients, but rather a DER network optimization tool. The Enbala platform optimizes connected assets in real time, provides a high degree of visibility regarding connected assets and the health of the asset, and provides flexibility in asset management. All this enables the operation of a VPP to be more reliable,” the award document continued.

“The Enbala Engine is unique as it enables asset optimization at various levels—such as the asset and networking levels—and helps provide ancillary support like voltage and frequency optimization,” commented Guhan Sriram R V, Research Analyst, Frost & Sullivan. This multi-level control over DERs and a network of DERs plays a crucial role in improving the visibility of each connected asset and assess their generation capability and is one of the important differentiating features of the Enbala Engine.

“It is a strong honor for everyone at Enbala to have our overall performance in grid edge DER and asset management acknowledged in this way by Frost & Sullivan’s team of analysts,” said Enbala CEO and President Arthur (Bud) Vos.
