Navigant Research has named Enbala as a leading provider of distributed energy resource management systems (DERMS) for distributed energy resources (DER) and grid management. Navigant announced the news in a January 23 press release. Enbala was chosen as one of the top three DERMS market players as part of a new Leaderboard Report that examines the strategy and execution of 16 DERMS providers.
Navigant Research defines a DERMS as, “a control system that enables optimized control of the grid and DER to the extent that a utility may be able to dispatch and control DER. To minimize disruptions and the presence of phantom loads, utilities need to manage the grid more proactively. Common use cases include volt/volt-ampere reactive (Volt/VAR) optimization (VVO), power quality management, and the coordination of DER dispatch (when possible) to support operational needs.”
According to Navigant Research, the report, Navigant Research Leaderboard: DERMS Vendors, rates the 16 leading vendors offering DERMSs for DER and grid management solutions on 12 criteria:
- Go-to-market strategy
- Product integration strategy
- Geographic reach
- Sales, marketing and distribution
- Product performance
- Product quality and reliability
- Product portfolio and ecosystem
- Staying power
“Being ranked so highly by Navigant as a world-leading DERMS provider is something everyone at Enbala is very proud of,” said Enbala CEO and President Arthur “Bud” Vos. “Navigant Research analysts have a deep understanding of the distributed energy market and the underpinnings of a successful DERMS solution. The high rankings given to Enbala across the 12 criteria they assessed is a strong testament to the quality of our software and everyone on the Enbala team.”
Commenting on the leaders noted in the Leaderboard in the aforementioned Navigant Research press release, Roberto Rodriguez Labastida, senior research analyst at Navigant Research, says, “Today’s leaders are offering comprehensive solutions that can be tailored to operate in a wide variety of regulatory environments and by different actors in the power market like market operators, system operators, energy suppliers, or aggregators.”
